Gregorio Matthew takes Airport Safety and Operations seriously
Gregorio Matthew works at Flamingo International Airport (TNCB), located on the island of Bonaire in the Caribbean Netherlands. The airport is the third largest in the former Netherlands Antilles. Flamingo International airport has over 350,000 passengers pass through in any given year.
Gregorio works as an Airport Operations Coordinator. As the Coordinator his role is to maintain a safe, secure and efficient environment for all operational processes. He also has to ensure compliancy with ICAO’s SARP’s, as well as the National Laws and regulations. His primary responsibilities include managing the Manoeuvring and Movement areas and Wildlife Management.
In 2011 Gregorio started his first online training course through the Online Learning Centre completing the OLC’s original Certificate in Airside Safety comprising of the following courses:
- Human Factors Safety Training
- Safety Management Systems
- Wildlife Hazard Management
- Airside Safety Training
From there in 2013 he continued investing in his professional development by enrolling in the Diploma in Airport Operations and completed all three Certificates:
- Certificate in Airside Operations
- Certificate in Terminal and Landside Operations
- Certificate in Business Operations
Gregorio decided to train through the Online Learning Centre to develop his professional career, while recognising that the courses would ensure that he would keep up to date with Airport Council International’s (ACI) current best practices.
Gregorio found that the training helped him order and manage his priorities with ease. It also gave him the confidence to complete his duties with a positive attitude.
After completing the Airport Operations Diploma Program (AODP) Gregorio was promoted into the Airport Operations Coordinator role. Moreover, he now hosts the regular Airside Safety Committee Meetings and acts as the Airport Operations Manager.
Gregorio enjoyed training through the Online Learning Centre as he was able to complete the courses at his own pace. He also enjoyed the personal welcome and introduction from Ms. Angela Gittens – the Director General of Airports Council International.
Congratulations to Gregorio Matthew for completing these programs and for making safety a priority!
